Common questions

Gastro, in seven questions.

01 Is Yeast Beast Gastro food-safe?

Yeast Beast Gastro is suitable for non-food-contact surfaces in commercial kitchens and food processing: floors, exteriors of equipment, hoods, filters, drains, wall and ceiling surfaces. For direct food-contact surfaces (cutting boards, prep tables in active use), rinse with clean water after cleaning and verify according to your HACCP plan.

The active matrix is yeast-derived and biologically biodegradable (OECD 301B). Methylisothiazolinone is used as a preservative in trace quantity.

02 Does it remove baked-on grease in ovens and on grill plates?

Yes. For carbonised grease on grill plates, combi-steamer interiors and baking trays, use the concentrate at 1:1 to 1:5 at 40 to 60 °C. Apply, let it soak 15 to 30 minutes, then wipe or pressure-rinse. The biological chemistry breaks down the organic component of the residue without the fumes or burns of caustic oven cleaners.

For very heavy, multi-month carbon, a second pass may be needed.

03 Can it be used in grease traps and drains?

Yes, both as a maintenance cleaner and as a biological breakdown agent. At 1:10 to 1:20, pour into drain systems weekly to keep organic build-up under control. For active grease traps, dose at 1:5 to 1:10 directly into the trap and let it work overnight.

The active components are non-toxic to municipal water-treatment systems at use dilution.

04 Will it damage stainless steel work surfaces?

No. Stainless steel is fully compatible with Yeast Beast Gastro across the full working-dilution range. It does not leave residue, streaks or odours after rinsing.

For polished or mirror-finish stainless, we still recommend a soft cloth wipe-down to avoid water spots.

05 How does it compare to alkaline kitchen degreasers?

Conventional alkaline kitchen degreasers (NaOH or KOH-based, pH 13+) work fast on grease but are aggressive on skin, eyes and aluminium parts. Yeast Beast Gastro works through a biological cleaning chemistry at pH 10.5 to 11.5, with similar cutting performance on most kitchen soiling but much lower handling risk for staff.

For staff training, switching from caustic to YB Gastro is a real safety upgrade.
